1909 - Even the Order of the Red Men thought some words weren't dignified !
In 1909, even the Order of the Red Man banned terms such as "papoose," "squaws," "tomahawked," and "scalped."
And these people pretended to scalp people and are pretty much the founders of cultural appropriation of indigenous people. And yet, even THEY got it. (For themselves.. not sure what they called actual native people.)
