1899 - "Real Red Men Excluded from Red Men Order"

To push the issue a bit further:

In 1899, there was a vote to determine whether "half breeds" were allowed to join the Red Men Order. To make this clear - the club that was based on everything American Indian, even pretended to scalp each other, called themselves tribes and sachems, and presented themselves as Indian people in parades, reenactments and theater - voted to NOT allow Native Americans (not even half-white ones) into their little Indian club.
