(Cheyenne Indian chiefs) objects to having their race depicted as villains with the most savage of instincts and little of the humanitarian qualities which are supposed to characterize the white man. They have seen some moving picture shows and are thoroughly disgusted with the manner in which they are disgracefully displayed to the American public. Accordingly federal action against such shows... will be invoked.
All of which has an element of righteousness within in. The Indian as a villain was largely the result of the influence of the white man upon him. Almost invariably when good men dealt with the Indian, treating him as just another type of human race, good resulted from the relations....
